Homemade burgers are the bomb, but making your own patties, that’s a whole other kind of explosive. It’s also so easy my dad can do it, and that’s saying a lot.

Some days are for dainty little salads, sipping green tea, and believing that the heap of green is the most delicious thing you could’ve eaten today. Namaste bitches, because others are digging your teeth into a juicy (possibly too big) burger, licking your fingers and washing it down with a beer, kind of days. Rawr! (I don’t know why this is making me want to bump my chest with my fists, but here we are)
These patties are beefed up with some black beans, which makes this recipe a little bit lighter and healthier, but also gives you some bang for your buck because you get a lot more out of it.
Recipe
Ingredients
Beef mince (400g or so, it doesn’t have to a lot)
1/2 tin black beans
Handful chopped parsley
1/2 red onion finely chopped
2 tbsp Minestrone powder
Steak and chop spice
Grind of Pepper
*2 eggs
*I use an extra egg because I generally leave out bread crumbs. I think it works as enough of a bind. Although if you’d rather add bread crumbs to make sure everything is solid, I think you can do with just one egg.

Instructions
Add all your ingredients into a large mixing bowl - once you’ve added your black beans, lightly mash them with a fork - you just want to break them up a little bit. Last, of all, add your eggs and roughly whisk them with the fork.
With your hands, mix everything together. Make sure that everything is worked through well.
With your fingers, take little chunks of the mixture into your hands and start shaping it into rough balls, before flattening it between your palms to shape a patty.
It’s a good idea to let your patties rest in the fridge for an hour or so (or even overnight) before you cook them. During this waiting period, you can use the time to prep your burger toppings. The burger pictured here is made with sesame buns, lettuce, slices of red onion and tomato and topped with my Magic Avo and Herb Sauce (which is honestly an absolute must, it’s amazing!!).
Once the patties are chilled, you can pan fry them on medium heat. They should sizzle when they hit the pan, and be golden brown and crispy once you flip them.
Assemble your burgers, and munch away!
